International EPD® System
An EPD is a standardized and independently verified document that reports the environmental impacts of a product throughout its lifecycle based on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology.
EPDs help manufacturers communicate environmental performance transparently while supporting architects, developers, and buyers in selecting products that meet sustainability objectives and project requirements.
Buyers often review whether an EPD has been independently verified, which standards were used, the declared product scope, lifecycle stages covered, and how the environmental data aligns with project sustainability goals.
Future developments are expected to include wider adoption of digital environmental reporting, integration of EPD data into BIM platforms, increased use of lifecycle carbon assessments, and stronger sustainability requirements in public procurement.
